In 2001, the need to establish health care
services in Franklinton became increasingly urgent as a prominent
physician in the neighborhood retired, and budget cuts closed the
Franklinton Health Center run by the Columbus Health Department. The
community of Franklinton, with the highest poverty rates in all of
Franklin County, resulting in poor health outcomes, had very little,
if any, access to primary health care. In response to this need, Dr.
Dana Vallangeon opened Lower Lights Christian Health Center (LLCHC),
a 501(c) (3) faith-based
community health center in the spring of 2002. |
